Financial Literacy Fall Update

Elementary Financial Literacy

  • Students had a visit from Gibbles, the Financial Literacy class hamster.  Gibbles helped teach elementary students about comparison shopping, delayed gratification, and what it means to make a “purchasing pause” when buying various needs and wants in a recent lesson.

Middle School Exploring Finance

  • Eighth grade students have been exploring the interesting world of finance through a variety of activities and guest speakers!  Students explored topics related to credit, saving, investing, identity theft and insurance. 

Personal Finance Juniors

  • Juniors have been deep diving into topics related to education, employment, taxes, and budgeting so far this trimester.  Students are in the process of coordinating job shadow experiences and preparing for their mock interview in November.

Investing Seniors

  • Seniors in the investing elective are gearing up to begin the 2021 Fall Stock Market Game.  The game is an online simulation of the global capital markets that connect the world of economics, investing and personal finance, and prepares students for financially independent futures.  The game begins mid-October and runs through mid-December.
