Happy Holidays to all our families. We have had a great school year thus far and are quickly moving into the new year. It is exciting to continue to see all of the great things students and staff are doing at school.
As the first trimester came to an end in November we officially made it through the first grading period of the school year. It was encouraging to see very few below average marks. Our staff and students have really been utilizing our GIT period for student intervention time. During this time, many students are being requested by their teachers to come to their rooms and get help with assignments, projects, quizzes and tests. This time has really helped our students connect with their teachers. It gives them time to get to the person that can help them the most. We will continue to stress the importance of this time and look for more ways to help our students.
Shortly after we get back from break, we will begin the scheduling process for the 2022-23 school year. Conversations and meetings will take place with grade groups and individual students to assist in their four year plans. As this will be new to our 8th graders it is an exciting time for the students and staff to work through this together.
Our student organizations continue to meet monthly and plan many events that not only benefit our school but also our community. Opportunities for students to learn the value of community service and the importance of personal involvement continues to be a focus here in Loyal. Our MS and HS band and choir groups just performed their holiday concert this past week. We estimate that there were over 700 people in attendance for this event. What a great way for our students to appreciate the support and encouragement from all who attended.
Our winter sports teams continue to press on through their seasons. Middle school wrestling has started their season. Our 7th and 8th grade boys basketball team will finish up their season soon, while our 7th and 8th grade girls basketball team will get started and be in full swing after the holiday break. Our boys and girls basketball teams along with our wrestlers will be reaching that half way point of their seasons soon. We encourage them all to press on and continue to represent our school in the great way they have been.
From my family to all of yours, have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! I look forward to seeing you all in 2022!!!!
