Sharing Resources with Greenwood School District

Sharing Resources With Greenwood

As most of you likely know, school districts are faced with many challenges. We all try to do our best to provide students with the most opportunities possible as we prepare each and every student for their future endeavors. Staffing has become one of the largest challenges we face as the workforce is declining and competition is on the rise. To put it simply, there are just not enough teachers to go around! This can and has made school districts around the country get more creative with staffing, while trying to ensure highly qualified teachers for our kids.

On the teaching and learning side, demands for a broader range of courses has also grown. In order to keep up with the demands of industry and adequately prepare students for their academic and career pathway after high school, districts are challenged to provide this wider variety of opportunities.

With the merging of more academic opportunities and fewer staff available to provide instruction, we are headed toward staffing problems like never before. Now is the time to think outside the box and look ahead to prepare our districts to share resources and maximize opportunities for our kids!

The School District of Greenwood and the School District of Loyal Boards of Education have created a joint board committee to look at the possibilities of sharing resources and maximizing opportunities. We all want to be clear about one thing: this is not talk about consolidation; this is talk about cooperation and collaboration. We are interested in providing great opportunities for our kids by sharing resources and staff development.

Our committee is also aware of some challenges. Bell schedules, calendars, and transportation are a few that we will look to address in the near future. In order to share any resources or time, our schedules and calendars must align. Our committee is excited to work together and even more excited for the possibilities this may create for our kids!

We look forward to more planning and collaborating. If you have any questions, concerns, or ideas, please feel free to reach out to your school board representative or administrator.

Respectfully,
